In September, the Tennessee Valley Fair will celebrate its 75th anniversary. It first began back in 1933.Even Channel 10 is a relative youngster compared to the fair, but ever since we came on the air in 1956, the fair has been one of our stories.In 1958, an enterprising newsman got what then seemed like pretty spectacular shots as he rode the Ferris wheel on the fair's midway.Year after year, hundreds of thousands of people flocked to the fair to see the sights, hear the sounds, and sample the edible wares.In 1962, Leonard Rogers--then secretary/manager of the fair--outlined some of the preparations for that year's opening."We're cleaning up the grounds, whitewashing the buildings, painting them, and trying to get everything in a good appearance and in a sanitary condition for our livestock," Rogers said.Nationally known entertainers attracted big crowds. ...
